Cycling for everyone.

Louth Disability Cycling Club was established in January 2024 with a simple but important goal: to give everyone the opportunity to experience the freedom, enjoyment and benefits of cycling, regardless of ability. Our club welcomes both adults and children with a wide range of abilities and support needs, including wheelchair users, people with physical or intellectual disabilities, autistic and neurodivergent users, and those experiencing age-related changes in mobility or ability.

We believe that cycling should be accessible to everyone.

Bikes for all abilities.

To make cycling as inclusive as possible, we have developed a wide range of specialist and adapted cycles. Our fleet includes wheelchair-adapted bicycles, tandems, trishaws, handcycles, adult tricycles and other adapted bikes, allowing us to cater for almost all levels of ability.

For many of our participants, an ordinary bicycle simply isn’t an option. Having access to the right adapted equipment can open up an entirely new experience—giving people the opportunity to enjoy cycling, fresh air, exercise and, most importantly, the freedom and enjoyment of being out on a bike.

Powered by Volunteers
At the heart of Louth Disability Cycling Club is an incredible team of approximately 30 volunteers who generously give their time to support our participants and help run our cycling sessions, events and activities. Their commitment allows us to provide a welcoming, supportive and enjoyable environment where participants and their families can feel comfortable and included.

Partners

The growth of Louth Disability Cycling Club would not have been possible without the support and cooperation of organisations that share our commitment to inclusion. We are proud to have developed partnerships and working relationships with Variety – the Children’s Charity, Louth Sports Partnership, Louth County Council, the HSE, the Department of Children and the Department of Transport.

We also must acknowledge the generosity of a large number of local businesses who have supported us in growing our fleet of adaptable bicycles, without such generous support we would not have been able to grow this service! These relationships have helped us continue to develop opportunities for inclusive and accessible cycling throughout our community.

Proud of how far we have come!

Although Louth Disability Cycling Club was only established in 2024, we are extremely proud of what our volunteers, participants, families, supporters and partners have achieved together in such a short period of time. One of our proudest achievements has been the opening of our Inclusive Cycling facility at Muirhevnamor Sports Centre, providing a dedicated location where people of different ages and abilities can experience and enjoy cycling.

But for us, this is only the beginning. We want to continue growing the club, expanding our fleet of adapted bikes and creating even more opportunities for people who may previously have thought cycling wasn’t possible for them.

At Louth Disability Cycling Club, ability should never be a barrier to experiencing the joy of cycling.
